Hi, I’m Job, and this is some of my work

Music Structure Visualization

For my master’s thesis in Computer Science and Engineering, I created a tool that automatically extracts and visualizes structure of music. Interfacing directly with Spotify’s API’s, it can instantly generate the visualization for any song on the platform.

The goal of this project was to create a tool that helps musicians understand the structure of a song they are learning, or, when practicing music in a band setting, it serves as a shared representation of the music to get everyone on the same page.

The Quadray-Tonnnetz (Implementation)

The Quadray-Tonnetz is a geometric model for writing non-functional harmony proposed by Jaap van Hamond. I helped him realize this model in the form of an interactive tool, enabling users to explore a 3D tonal space to aid in discovering unique harmonies.

The goal is to release this tool in the form of a MIDI VST plugin.

Audio MIDI Triggers

A Max-for-Live device that enables anything to be used as a velocity-sensitive MIDI trigger. It takes any audio input such as contact microphones on a surface, detects transients and their velocity and turns them into MIDI notes. With a cheap set of contact mics, you can easily create your own electronic drum kit.

Photography

Whenever I go somewhere I take my cameras and try to capture what I see.
I shoot both digital and film.

All my photos are free to use and can be downloaded on my Unsplash page.
